UNDRF Economic Development will be established through the growth of start-up companies and the end result of the work done by the following companies:
LIFE SCIENCE Cluster:
- Avianax, a North Dakota corporation, is working collaboratively with UNDRF and the faculty from the School of Medicine & Health Sciences to develop therapeutic antibodies and vaccines to aid in the treatment of West Nile Virus and Avian Influenza.
- NovaDigm, California, will work with UND Research Foundation and School of Medicine & Health Sciences on developing vaccines for antibiotic resistance Staphylococcus and Candida.
- Center of Infectious Disease, researchers from School of Medicine and Health Sciences, who involved in basic and applied research on Yersina pestis (the plague), Avian Influenza and West Nile Virus.
- BORDERS Alert and Ready®, a joint UNDRF / UND's School of Medicine & Health Sciences project, is an e-learning education and training platform for emergency preparedness of health care workers.
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES Cluster:
- UND Engineered Surfaces Center, A product of the UND School of Engineering and Mines, this entity is involved in basic and applied research to improve the life of metal to metal parts in military applications.
- SUNRISE, A UND Project developing a renewable fuel source to replace fossil fuel based jet fuel.
- Alion, Alion Science & Technology, based in Virginia, is working with the Army and UND's Engineered Surfaces Center to improve wear and corrosion resistance in Army equipment for high stress applications operating in harsh environments.
- Ideal Aerosmith, based in Minnesota, is developing inertial systems and mission flight system and aerospace test engineering. A student internship program is planned with School of Engineering & Mines to expand business opportunities.
